Stablecoin Market Cap Holds Above $306B as Payment Use Cases Expand

DefiLlama data showed total stablecoin market capitalization at around $306.4 billion, with a slight daily decline and a modest 30-day increase. This broader market backdrop comes as stablecoin use cases continue moving beyond trading into checkout payments, treasury settlement, and cross-border financial infrastructure. A stablecoin’s peg does not remove issuer, liquidity, custody, smart contract, or regulatory risks. Market cap data is useful context only and should not be read as an investment outlook or trading signal.

UAE Checkout Counters Put Dirham Stablecoin Payments Into Real-World View

Network International has launched the UAE’s first in-store AED-backed stablecoin payment pilot, with DDSC payments tested at Marks & Spencer in Dubai Festival City and Lulu Hypermarket at Khalidiyah Mall in Abu Dhabi. The pilot allows shoppers to scan a QR code on existing payment terminals and confirm through a supported wallet, while merchants can receive settlement in DDSC or dirhams. UAE and Singapore Show How Stablecoins Could Connect Financial Corridors

According to The National, the UAE and Singapore are emerging as testing grounds for stablecoin use across cross-border payments, corporate treasury, and settlement. The report notes that both markets built digital asset regulation earlier than many financial centres, while the UAE has moved from regulation toward practical use cases such as dirham-backed stablecoin payments and Digital Dirham cross-border experiments. The key question is not only how fast a token moves, but how quickly funds become usable after compliance, FX, conversion, and local payout checks. This remains an infrastructure development, not a claim about future adoption or market performance.
